  • eBay Giving Works Charity Ribbon  Recognize Your Donors

  • eBay Giving Works is more than just a way to raise funds for your organization - it also allows you to attract new supporters. Part of that involves saying thank you to eBay users who choose to give and motivate them to support you in the future.
  • Here are a few suggested ways to recognize your eBay donors:
  • 1. Publish a thank you message on your website and via social media

  • An update on your website stating how much was raised by eBay users and how the funds will be used is a great way to show your appreciation. Drive traffic to the post with a shout out on Twitter, Facebook, etc. It will let your donors know you are grateful and will allow others to spread your message.
  • Get inspiration from letters written by other participating nonprofits to the eBay Community.
  • 2. Send an email thanking your eBay donors at least once a year

  • More targeted and personalized messages will resonate with your donors. You can find information for eBay users who gave to your organization in your MissionFish nonprofit account. Log in and select Community Sellers or Donate Now Donors under My Donors on the right hand side. You will be able to export the information into an excel file to make organizing and sending easy.

  • 3. Communicate with your donors directly on eBay

  • If you are a direct seller, add a thank you message in communications with your buyer. Then, include information about your cause and how their purchase will help further your mission in their package. It’s a great way to remind them that they made a difference and attract a new supporter.
  • You may also consider thanking eBay users who create listings to benefit your cause. When you receive a listing notification, look up their eBay ID under Community on eBay.com and then use the Contact Member tool in their profile to send them a note of thanks.
  • Even if the item doesn’t sell and produce a donation, it’s nice to thank them for their effort so they’ll try listing again, hopefully with better luck next time. Just be mindful to avoid being a spammer: stick to saying "thank you" and avoid any solicitations.
