Using eBay to Attract New Donors
- 2005, an eBay Seller asked Samaritan's Purse to register with MissionFish so he could donate proceeds from his sales to them with eBay Giving Works. Several years later, Samaritan's Purse has attracted a host of dedicated sellers to their cause.

Sellers Give Generously
- Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief organization that helps people recover from war, famine, natural disasters and disease, registered with MissionFish in 2005. Since then, a steady flow of eBay Community Sellers have supported them on eBay.
- Darren Mullenix, Director of Operations for Donor Ministries, explains their experience, "We have had good success with eBay in terms of volume of listings that have benefited us. Because we're part of eBay Giving Works, eBay users are learning about Samaritan’s Purse and giving generously." At any given time, there are 70 to 100 listings benefiting Samaritan's Purse.

Acquiring New Donors
- eBay Giving Works has also heightened the organization’s profile. Darren notes, "We've had sellers who have sold for us who aren't in our database. We can assume that people are using eBay to take the next step in their relationship with us."
- Samaritan’s Purse isn’t shy about showing sellers their gratitude. Existing sellers receive an annual thank you letter while new sellers are sent special acknowledgment emails when they list their first item. Darren says this tactic often incites response, "They'll say things like 'It's an honor to help in this way.'"

- Funds raised from Community Selling further the organization's mission of helping anyone in need recover from a natural disaster's devastating impact. Darren believes eBay Giving Works can be a viable funding resource for organizations. "To nonprofits considering registering, I would say definitely go ahead and do it. Use whatever means fit within your organization's culture to get the word out to your constituency that it is an option. There are a lot of people out there who sell on eBay."
