U.S. Fund for UNICEF Engages Donors
- The United States Fund for UNICEF has experienced exciting success by encouraging donors to use eBay Giving Works as a way to give back to the organization without opening a checkbook.

-
Another Way to Donate
- For over 60 years, UNICEF has been the world’s leading international children's organization and is currently working in more than 150 countries. Funds raised through eBay Giving Works are used to support UNICEF programs that help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation and AIDS.
- Ross Geisel, Email Marketing Manager, explains how the program has helped to engage more supporters, "eBay Giving Works is another way for people to give to us. We have a large group of people who have already donated and another group who want to do more than donate. By selling on eBay to support us, they have an alternative option for giving."
-
Promotion
- The United States Fund for UNICEF promotes eBay Giving Works through their well-trafficked blog and occasionally in enewsletters. An employee also attended an eBay Live! event to network with sellers.
- These tactics have generated a healthy interest. "We’ve attracted a group of core Community Sellers who are giving to us on a regular basis," Ross says. Thank-you emails are sent to Community Sellers recognizing their generosity and encouraging them to continue listing. UNICEF also blogged and emailed about its five most generous sellers.

One Book = Several Hundred Dollars
- Jenna Bush interned with UNICEF in Latin American and the Caribbean from September 2006 through May 2007. Her first-hand experiences with people living in poverty inspired her to write Ana's Story--a personal, narrative nonfiction account of a girl struggling to break free from a life of abuse, poverty and illness.
- A copy of the book signed by Jenna Bush was given to The United States Fund for UNICEF. The nonprofit auctioned it with eBay Giving Works. To promote the auction, The United States Fund for UNICEF placed the eBay To Go widget on their blog. The auction ultimately fetched over $320.
- Ross plans to use eBay Giving Works to raise funds via more celebrity auctions and says the nonprofit looks forward to continually engaging more Community Sellers to sell for their cause.
